Distinctive short, sallying, acrobatic flight, with tail fanned, 1-2m above ground. Constant movement and tail flicking. Hawks for insects with an audible click of the bill. Gleans insects in the mid- to low canopy. Call a tiny, high-pitched sequence of notes. Similar to Grey Fantail.

Found in densely vegetated areas of temperate rainforests, wet sclerophyll forests and adjacent ranges.
