White-headed Pigeon

Moderately common

Wary and secretive. Usually seen in pairs or small groups of 12-15 birds. Arboreal, feeding on fruit and seeds, especially native laurel and the introduced Camphor Laurel tree (weed). Loud 'whoo' repeated three times. Contact call a low 'oom'.

Found in lower canopy of coastal rainforests, remnant scrub and suburban parks and gardens.
