Communal, flocks of 15-20 after breeding. Hovers, flits in upper canopy, often in mixed flocks. Feeds on insects, scales, lerp, psyllids, caterpillars, sometimes seeds and nectar. Rapid, high-pitched staccato trill.

Found in open woodlands with understorey, dense eucalypt forests, mangroves, gardens.
