Sociable, aggressive, often feeding in large flocks. Quick, undulating flight between trees or singing from a high perch and quickly gliding back into cover. Feeds on nectar, manna and small fruits, insects gleaned or snapped mid-air.

Found in coastal woodlands, open and semi-arid scrubland, mallee and desert areas.
