Male defends breeding territory by singing from perimiter perches. Often tame, confiding. Perches near ground to feed, pouncing on insects, grasshoppers, ants, moths, caterpillars and other invertebrates.

Found in open drier woodlands, semi-arid mulga, inland scrub, mallee and farms.
