Usually in pairs or flocks. Flight is fast, straight or wheeling. Although brilliantly plumed, well camouflaged while feeding but easily located by noisy chatter and falling blossoms. Metallic screeching in flight. High-pitched chatter when feeding.

Found in open forests, heathlands, rainforests, parks and gardens.
