Singular or in pairs. Arboreal feeder, native figs, fruits, berries. Known for its loud, ascending, monotonous call of 'koo-el', from which it gets its name. Female quieter. Also called the Eastern Koel or Storm Bird.

Found in tall forests, rainforest fringes, riverside scrub, eucalypt forests, parks and gardens.
