Usually associates with other lorikeets. Flight is swift, direct, with whirring wings. Arboreal feeder, preferring the upper canopy. Main diet is nectar, pollen, also lerp and scale. Metallic shrieks in flight, constant chatter when feeding.

Found in open forests with flowering eucalypts and banksias, farmland, urban parks and gardens.
