Gregarious, mostly arboreal. Flight is heavy, wheeling, swooping with deep wingbeats. Feeds quietly. Prefers seeds of eucalypts, acacia and native cypress pine.

Found in cooler, wetter coastal to high-mountain ranges in heavily wooded areas, parks and gardens.
