Strong flight. In pairs or groups. Feeds methodically, foraging in upper foliage for insects. Hangs from leaves. Uses bill to pull away bark or cut into galls. Plaintive piping whistle and chattering. 

Found in open woodlands, eucalypt forests, rainforests.
