Strong, undulating flight, folds and refolds wings several times when alighting. Feeds on large insects caught mid-air, taken from foliage or less frequently from the ground. Sometimes eats fruit.

Found in open eucalypt forests, woodlands, inland riverine vegetation, scrubland, farms and gardens.
